CTomlin my point in saying that the player made 112k is that the player who did that did not have a very good year and yet were rewarded with 112K. So lets say they did only really make 35k for finishing last among players who kept their card for the next year. Complain about that to the record number of people who are unemployed right now. I would also ask where the player who is spending $5000 a week is staying and what car she is driving and where she is eating, etc. That is a huge number and in times like these those are the things that need to be pulled back. I feel no sympathy for some of these players who truly do not excel at any point in a season and yet make 6 figures. They do nothing to distinguish themselves. And yet they, in a lot of instances, feel like they are entitled. The thing that smaller purses and smaller fields would certainly do is make some of them hungrier to work harder and actually excel rather than just wallow in mediocrity and make a living that most people cannot.

I agree.... The LPGA Tour has a lot of women that have no chance of making golf a career. They fill up the fields at smaller events and now that a lot of those are extinct, hopefully they will go find another career. This downsizing will actually be good in the long run for their tour.

Hey Franco... John Daily has proven that personality along with occasional good golf sells. So why is it that a average golfer, compared to the top 10 say, in LPGA should not be able to hack along and make a few bucks. Every year you can see one average hack rise from the ashes and become a great golfer so I say keep on keepn on girls and grind away.
The LPGA is way undermarketed. Under the present economic times they should be thankful to exist and get connected to the golf fans and the community in which they play a little better. I think the new comish will get the job done. Hey comish, please stop promoting the sex with LPGA and Gulibus calender and naked pictures of Kristina Kim.... Please.. There are a lot of good looking gils in the tour, we men can let our own imagination work. Stick to promoting golf, personalities and charity. stick to the basics and build on what core base you have and you will be successful....

So how about a "Girls of the LPGA Tour" in Playboy? Now that would get some publicity.

Sorry to re-introduce this topic., but here are my thoughts as an LPGA fan:
Would there be more interest if an American was dominating the tour? A modest increase maybe.
Should we worry that there are too many Koreans near the top of the leader-board? No. Good golf attracts interest.
Should marketing be improved? Yes, but you need to show great quality to take to the market.
I cannot tell you how many times I have watched LPGA events on the tele, watch the ladies hit decent drives, hit good approach shots onto the green, and then player after player miss what looks like simple putts. Nothing kills a broadcast more than watching less than stellar putting.
That is really what separates the PGA from the LPGA, and Tiger from everyone else. How many clutch putts have we seen Tiger make during his career! Lorena dominated a year ago because she was probably the best putter on tour, but even she has fallen back to mediocrity this year. Better putting means better competition, which means better interest in the tour.

I don't know about you guys but I'm ready for some LPGA action. I'm dying to see who has really been working hard on their fitness, their short game/putting, their distance and the gals that have found the right 'groove' for 2010!
Can the newly married Ochoa fend off all these hungry young lionesses? Will Cristie realize how good she really is and relax? Will Pettersen learn that golf is not about perfection and have some fun while winning? Has Paula's big frame muscled up to fill that distance gap? Can Wie be a legend during school breaks? Will Yani Tseng find some inner peace/direction and really show us what she's got?
I can't wait!!

All interesting questions... one is rather puzzling though- Have you ever met Christie??? I don't think not knowing how good she is is the problem there....

Hey Babe . . You did catch me a little with the Cristie comment - I didn't know how to explain myself on the topic of her attitude very well.
What I was trying to say was: I feel that her outwardly flashy, over confident show, the screaming at the golf ball in flight, the Kerr sneer and her general on-course demeanor has hid a lot of insecurity in her game, especially in a few majors. I guess I'd just like to see her combine that terrific intensity & skill with a more relaxed inner confidence - kinda like the way she expects to make - and does make! so many great putts.
