Agreed, Tirico is good, as well as Andy North and Zinger. Curtis is a hack broadcaster that adds nothing to the mix.
Overall their broadcast is a good one.
Love waking up early to watch the coverage, look forward to seeing the elements liven up to make things interesting.

2010....I think it is because Berman was ESPN's first sportscaster from 1978.  No, he's not the best ...now...but he was....And it's probably called something like loyalty.

Not a whole lot of loyalty in t.v. land.  Either you get ratings and make me money or you are out.

The best thing about ESPN's coverage is the ability to extend coverage as they did yesterday when there was a delay.  If this was on broadcast tv or another lesser cable station they would have to go to regular programming at the set time.

Berman was a joke at the U S Open and they took a lot of heat from folks about his commentary which was self serving and inaccurate.  British Open coverage was much better.  You are correct golfdad, the stands were empty on Saturday but for the most part it was a well attended and well organized ( as usual) event.

Agreed, saw tons of open room at the championship and was commenting on that all weekend.
They did say during the broadcast yesterday that "all the folks are on the perimeter of the golf course" and over "200,000 people attended the open". Wonder if only VIP's etc are allowed inside the grounds?
Having not been there before I assume thats the case.
